About Fiona Whitelaw

Welcome to my world. Creativity is not just work for me, but a whole life ethos.
Creativity connects us and connection is what makes us thrive.

My creative life professionally began after my drama training at Ilkley College where I studied not only acting and devising but also how to hang and program lights, sound design and stage management . My 25+ years in theatre and film have confirmed for me that making work is a team sport and that collaboration is a vital force.

I have worked in a huge range of settings and in various mediums. The beginning of my career found me touring with Young People’s Theatre, performing, devising and delivering workshops.
I learned how to pack a van and to play a range of characters both real and surreal.

The opportunity to work in a variety of London theatre’s has been an ongoing feature of my acting journey with national tours bringing variety to the mix.

My first role on screen was in cult classic Moondial for the BBC and most recent film work has included Zombie TV show Feel The Dead and animated series Tales of Pussy Willow.

Live Art on film and in galleries has developed into an area of expertise and I have had the privilege to make work with some amazing artists for pieces shown in The Barbican, Tate Britain and The Middlesborough Institute of Modern Art.

Site-Specify projects have bridged two areas of my work as a performer/devisor and facilitator on countless theatre/film projects with young people and seniors. I have made work in Care Homes, Libraries, a Launderette, a bookshop to name a few.

Writing for theatre and more recently for film is the third element of my creative portfolio. My work has been toured nationally for the stage & been produced in theatres in London and New York.
I do believe that Art changes minds and expands our vision of who we are and what is similar and common to us all. Telling stories from the perspective of voices that are not usually heard is my deepest passion as a writer.

I am always looking for new stories to tell and I am eager to hear the stories of others.

Do get in touch if you would like to chat to me about any creative project – Acting- Writing- Workshop. I want to help you tell your story.
